Meridian 400
Race #3 of the PSSA 2025 Offshore Series — 400nm, difficulty 10/10, and a qualifying passage for the Singlehanded Transpac from San Francisco in June.
The Meridian 400 replaced the old Guadalupe Island race with a course that pushes west to the 122° meridian before looping back through familiar territory — past Cortez Bank and Tanner Bank — to finish at Catalina’s west end. The detour to the meridian adds a navigation precision element that the Guadalupe course didn’t have: you’re managing position in open ocean, not just pointing at an island.
Entry requires completing a prior 100nm+ nonstop qualifier. This is not a first-offshore race.
Course: Channel Islands → 122° Meridian → Southern turning mark → Catalina West End Distance: ~400nm Fleet: Singlehanded, Doublehanded, Crewed (max 4) Qualifier required: 100nm or more, non-stop
